Nintendo Direct: Monster Hunter Wilds Comes to Switch 2 in December

Capcom had said that Monster Hunter Wilds would eventually make its way to Nintendo Switch 2, but it wasn’t clear when exactly that would be. With the upcoming launch of the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion, one might have assumed the game would come sooner rather than later, and lo and behold, that is indeed the case. Monster Hunter Wilds will hit Switch 2 on December 4, 2026.

This iteration of the game comes replete with all of the free title update content that has been released thus far. Monster Hunter Wilds on Nintendo Switch 2 will support cross-play as well as local co-op, so you’ll be able to join with fellow Hunters right from the offing. There are two editions of the game to look out for: 

• Standard Edition ($39.99)
• Gold Edition ($79.99): Includes the base game and a wealth of cosmetic DLC

If you pre-order the standard edition prior to December 3, 2026 you’ll be able to get a discounted price of $29.99 for the Standard Edition. A physical edition of Monster Hunter Wilds Deluxe Edition is also on the way, which will include the base game and the Deluxe Pack cosmetics. It will sell for $39.99.

Monster Hunter should be quite familiar to Nintendo fans at this point, but if you’ve yet to experience the series or Wilds, here’s how Capcom breaks it down:

Hunters on the Expedition Team journey to the Forbidden Lands in search of the mysterious “White Wraith,” wield 14 iconic weapon types against larger-than-life monsters, and gather resources to craft an expansive arsenal of more powerful gear during their search for answers.

These games are all about the thrill of the hunt, as the name suggests, with players taking on increasingly powerful and crafty monsters in taught, thrilling combat. Monster Hunter Wilds will get a demo prior to launch, although Capcom hasn’t announced when, and the Ascendance expansion will also be launching on Nintendo Switch 2 alongside all other platforms.
