Capcom is retiring one of Monster Hunter Wilds‘ most divisive microtransactions. Starting 3 December, Edit Vouchers will be pulled from digital storefronts, and players will receive 10 Character Edit Vouchers and 10 Palico Edit Vouchers for free.
The vouchers govern how much players can alter their hunter’s and Palico’s appearance after character creation. The free vouchers are intended to cover those changes until the next stage of Capcom’s planned update to the system.
Free Edits Become Permanent Next Year
Capcom says that when Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance arrives sometime next year, players will be able to re-edit their hunter and Palico as many times as they like without charge or vouchers.
The change will not be limited to expansion owners. Players who do not buy Ascendance will still be able to make unlimited free appearance edits once the update is available.
Players who previously spent money on Edit Vouchers will not receive refunds. Instead, Capcom will offer the Special Thank-You Pendant Set, which includes the Heavenly Hog and Beelzeboar pendants, beginning 3 December. The publisher has said those pendants may become available separately at a later date.

Ascendance does not yet have an exact release date. In the meantime, Wilds is also set to receive a Switch 2 port in December, alongside quality-of-life updates.
Wilds launched strongly, but its momentum has slowed amid concerns over PC performance. The game has also been outsold by older entries in the series, while Capcom has pursued measures intended to narrow the gap with its predecessors, including a price drop, a demo and the forthcoming expansion.
